The Reasonable Environmentalist

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the birth of modern environmentalism, we should pause to give each other a virtual high five for the impressive environmental progress society has accomplished during this span. We should also think about the ways we can make the next 50 years far more effective.

Bjorn Lomborg gave a presentation on climate change at a conference in Colorado. He explained that climate change won’t be as costly or devastating as we often hear in the media, and how detrimental the cost of current green policies is in comparison. To sustainably tackle climate change, we need a new approach.

The Dutch farmers protest shows what's wrong with environmental policy-making. Politicians love to make nice sounding, green promises, but they have no intention of actually implementing highly expensive policies. Eventually, the Dutch government's hand was forced by environmentalists through a court case.
